MD Coaches began in 2018 when Tristan, Martin and Dave saw an opportunity to take their own experiences of the coaching industry further by founding a transport company themselves.

Tristan grew up with coaches. His grandfather Ken founded a coach and haulage company and Tristan’s earliest memories are sitting in the cab of a Scania lorry with Ken at the wheel. Tristan’s mother Linnette then succeeded Ken in running the family business and Tristan’s father Bruce taught him to drive in the family’s coaches. Tristan enjoys the challenges that come with all aspects of business management and in particular that of the transport industry.

Martin also had coach driving in the family, through his father Reg who also drove lorries. With an interest in solving mechanical problems from a young age Martin could be found taking apart and mostly putting things back together around the family home. Upon leaving school Martin undertook an apprenticeship on large vehicle maintenance. Martin can be found supervising the workshops, or training the company apprentices.

Dave hadn’t thought about the transport industry as a career until Tristan his childhood friend offered to teach him to drive. Finding a previously unknown talent he quickly took his PCV test and started his coaching career driving local school runs and private tours around the UK and eventually venturing across into Europe. In 2019 he took the transport managers qualification to become the transport manager for MD Coaches.

With well over 50 combined years in passenger services, Tristan, Martin and Dave believe they have the skills and experience to transport people smoothly from small one off private hire work to coordinating mass transit events requiring the movement of thousands of individuals in a day. We enjoy the challenge of moving people from A to B and take pride in the customer focused individual service we provide.
